College, again

Sorry for not being to return comments. I’m really sorry. I’ll start returning it after finishing this post…

Anyway, I’m reading an essay by leprakhauns. It’s a good read actually, I’ve scanned it first and found some good points there. Then, I’ve decided to give the material a shot. The essay is entitled How Bad Can It Be?. It’s about the things a freshie (freshman college student) should know. And yes, I’m reading it while I’m typing this entry, more like scanning I guess. I’m multi-tasking because I want to quote some passages there that I find interesting and worth knowing.

The first year of college can be stressful for many students. Students are thrown into a new environment much different than the sanctity that was high school. Though college life is new and exciting at first, within the first few weeks many are lost within the new environment.

I’ve experienced this already when I was a high school freshie. We’re put into a pressurizing atmosphere because I’m in the cream of the crop class, and it’s hard. I believe that this year is my most agonizing year I’ve had in High School.

College, even a small community college, can be a giant leap from what one is used to.

I’m quite familiar with this. My parents always remind me that college is way different because my future lies in it. I have to take it as seriously as possible and stop being a happy-go-lucky fellow, that is, if I want to have a promising future.

Not going to class shouldn’t even be considered, unless you have a valid reason.

*gulps* I have a lot of absences in my last year in high school. I took a leave whenever possible. Then, if I feel like not doing anything, I’ll go to the school clinic and pretend that I’m sick. Being the good actress that I am, I always end up being sent home.

Look alert, just because your class is at 8:30 in the morning, it is no excuse for you to be sleeping. It’s 8:30 for everyone else in the class too.

Hey! My first class starts at 7.30 in the morning and not 8.30! Damn!

If 8:30AM is too early for you, then don’t schedule your class for that time.

In my school, there are blocks. This means that for the whole semester, you’ll be seeing the same faces in every class you have. And each block already has a certain schedule.

While grades in high school were important, grades in college are much more important. The grades you receive in college could be looked at by future employers and possibly higher level degree programs

I believe this statement doesn’t need a further explanation. And I also believe that grades are very much important.

The most important recourse you could find at college are friends. Getting to know people in your class holds endless possibilities.

Of course! This is one of the things I look forward in college - meeting new faces!

Take advantage of everything that college offers you. It is a short time in your life, use it every way you can. Take classes that sound interesting, even if it isn’t your major. Sometimes the most interesting classes are the ones that allow you to open your mind and learn to use it in a more abstract way. Make some friends, go to a party, do a few reports, take a class. It is a time of discovery and exploration. If not now then when?

I highly recommend this essay to those who want to read it. It’s really a great read.

Bookworm

I would like to thank those who commented on my previous post. Though you have contradicting ideas, I appreciate it a lot! Thank you again.

I believe that I should change for the better.  I won’t promise myself a lot of things this time - that I’ll get higher grades and stuffs like that, just a simple change in my outlook in life. This means that I should stop to bum around and be a lazy ass. Life is beautiful and short, I should make the most out of it, right?

Only a few more weeks to go and college here I come! Do I sound excited? Seriously, I’m still not. Not because I’m lazy but I just don’t feel like spending most of my time inside the school campus. I prefer to use my time reading some good reading materials than to be confided in the four-walled concrete classroom.  :grr:

Speaking of reading, would you believe that I read everyday? Seriously, I do! I just feel like reading every single day. It eases my stress (as if it’s stressful to be on vacation) and it appeases my mind.

Sorry for the unreturned comments. I’ll try returning them tomorrow. I can’t today because it’s Saturday! It’s the day I get my nails done. Hooray!

See you later.

boohyeah!

Only a few more weeks to go and I’m going to school once again. Oops, remove once again because I won’t be going to study to the same school I’ve studied for 12 years. :yay: But I don’t feel happy nor ecstatic about that fact. I still prefer to be bum at home than to work my ass off there. I’m so lazy… damn! Why am I born this way?

I promised myself that I’m going to change that attitude of mine - that I’ll be serious this time. Ok, at least, I’ll try. I don’t even know how to be serious so how can I be one?

I’m always the happy-go-lucky-multi-tasking-procrastinator. I can’t even imagine how I passed grade school and high school without even getting a single red mark. Believe it or not, I’m telling the truth.

Many people don’t believe it. Their first impression on me is ‘I’m the persevering type’. I just wish that I am but the problem is I’m not. Though I’ve tried to be one but after quite some time I’ll go back to the old me.

Do you have any suggestions on how can I make myself better? If you have, feel free to write ‘em down. I direly need them, please! College is my one last chance to be better, and I won’t let that chance slip away, so please enlighten me

Just sharing some fav’s

I can see that everyone is pretty interested with waxing… :D I’ll try my best to answer your comments when I hop into your wonderful turfs later :D

Now, I want to share with you guys some of my ever favorite site add ons, plugins and scripts!

I have 3 favorite plugins. They’re Akismet, Spam Karma 2 and WP Ban.

Akismet and Spam Karma are almost alike. They eat spams, but SK2 is meaner because it all IPs are tracked there. So leave no mistake in commenting. Not just that, SK2 has a special feature that allows you to ban IPs. Yes, you can refrain them from commenting spams in your posts. Isn’t it great?

You might wonder what I do with WP Ban. Well, unlike SK2 WP Ban bans IP from your site. Meaning the said user can np longer view your site. I’m using this feature whenever someone endorses pornographic materials in my shoutbox and QandA script.

Now, let’s check out my favorite site add on - it’s non-other than my shout box! Because once you tag in there, your IP is tracked. So if you got nothing good to say, think about it. I have your IP and I have my ways to block you.

You can start saying that I’m an IP tracking freak :D

Lastly, I have 2 favorite scripts. It’s Wak’s Ask and Answer Script and Plugboard.org’s Plugboard Script. Well, the reason why I love them is because IPs are also being logged. :D

I’ve been tagged by sis joana and sis elie.

Waxing

I forget to mention in my previous entry that I really wax my legs, but it’s the first time that I’ve tried waxing using wax strips. :D

Anyway, the whole waxing procedure is not painful at all. Even if it’s your first! Count 1-5 and the pain is gone. Believe me, it’s not painful. Threading (spell?) is even painful than waxing. Uhmmm.. threading is one of the ways used in eyebrow arching :D

Moving on, I never imagine that it’s hard to keep a message board. But it’s worth it :D

I have a new hostee! Kindly visit her if you have time. Visit her here here here here here here.

I’ll return comments later. Sorry for slacking off T_T
